01 Our commitment
If something here doesn’t work with your screen reader, keyboard, or other assistive technology, tell us — we respond within 3 business days and provide the information another way while we fix it.
Renew HR is committed to ensuring digital accessibility for people with disabilities. Benefits enrollment, life-event changes, and HR case management are things employees must do, not things they choose to do — so we treat accessibility as a product requirement, not a compliance checkbox. We continually improve the user experience for everyone and apply the relevant accessibility standards across renewhr.com and Benefits Reimagined.
02 Standards we follow
We aim to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2, Level AA, published by the W3C Web Accessibility Initiative. These guidelines make content perceivable, operable, understandable, and robust for people with a wide range of disabilities — visual, auditory, motor, and cognitive.
Our work is also informed by:
- Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act (relevant to public-sector and education clients, including K-12 districts we serve);
- The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), as applied to places of public accommodation online;
- EN 301 549, for clients with international workforce requirements.
renewhr.com is currently partially conformant with WCAG 2.2 AA — meaning most content conforms, with the known exceptions listed in Section 6. We state this plainly rather than claim perfection; the list shrinks with every release.
03 Measures we take
Built into the design system
- Color palettes tested for WCAG contrast in both dark and light themes, with a user-selectable theme toggle on every page;
- Full keyboard operability — including the mega menu (focus-within support), skip-to-content links, and visible focus indicators;
- Semantic HTML landmarks, ARIA labels on navigation and controls, and correctly structured headings;
- Support for
prefers-reduced-motion— animations and floating effects are disabled for users who request reduced motion; - Responsive layouts that support 400% zoom and text resizing without loss of content, and touch targets meeting WCAG 2.2’s target-size criterion.
Built into our process
- Accessibility review in the definition of done for website and product releases;
- Automated scanning (axe-core / Lighthouse) in CI, plus manual audits of key user journeys twice a year;
- Testing with NVDA and JAWS on Windows, VoiceOver on macOS/iOS, and TalkBack on Android;
- Accessibility training for our design and engineering teams;
- Accessibility criteria in vendor selection for third-party components we embed.
04 Accessibility in Benefits Reimagined
Benefits Reimagined is built on SAP UI5 and SAP Fiori design patterns, which carry SAP’s accessibility framework: keyboard handling, screen-reader annotations, high-contrast themes, and consistent focus management across enrollment, life events, document upload, and ISD case views. On top of that foundation:
- Enrollment flows are fully keyboard-completable, with progress announced to assistive technologies at each step;
- Athena, our AI benefits assistant, is operable by keyboard and screen reader, and every task Athena performs can also be completed through standard accessible forms or a human case worker;
- Plan comparison tables include proper header associations and are navigable cell-by-cell with a screen reader;
- Documents generated by the platform (confirmations, statements) are produced as tagged, accessible PDFs;
- Employer clients can request our current VPAT (Voluntary Product Accessibility Template) / ACR for the platform as part of procurement at accessibility@renewhr.com.
05 Compatibility
renewhr.com and Benefits Reimagined are designed to work with the current and previous major versions of Chrome, Edge, Firefox, and Safari, on Windows, macOS, iOS, and Android, in combination with the assistive technologies listed above. The sites are not designed for browsers more than three major versions old; content remains readable there, but some interactive enhancements may not function.
06 Known limitations
An honest accessibility statement names what doesn’t work yet. Here’s our current list — and what to do in the meantime.
- Older PDF resources: some white papers published before 2024 are not fully tagged. Request an accessible version at accessibility@renewhr.com and we will provide one within 5 business days.
- Embedded third-party video: most videos have captions; a small number of legacy webinar recordings do not yet. Transcripts are available on request while we caption the backlog.
- Decorative animations: ambient background effects are disabled under reduced-motion settings, but a small number of hover transitions may still animate in older browsers that do not support the media query.
Each item has an owner and a remediation target; the list is reviewed at our twice-yearly audits.
